About Me

Honest and over-dressed
I inhabit my three-piece world.

I wander at dusk
In the carpeted chambers
Where decisions are made
And I am the only humanist.

Here I am learning
To touch with the hands
And measure with the heart
The dimensions of the world
With its power and sadness.

I remain by vocation a teacher--
Wordy, articulate,
And sharing.

My soul dwells alone
In the high peaks of late afternoon,
And the sandy spaces of dawn.
My gaze is fixed on the horizon.

I love the wisdom
Of aspen autumn
And the happiness
Of amber meadows.

I am a man of the mind
Wandering barefoot
By the light of my tradition.

I am witnessing
The beginning of my life,
But I kneel and worship alone.
