sweet you

as dawn fills
the shadows of the city,
a shining man leans over
a fallen man
to raise him up––
to give him
hope

bodhisattva is the
spirit living in the
skin who relieves
suffering––
drives away
pain

you are a
bodhisattva angel of
light
aiming a ray of sun
from your heart––
infusing love
with your
smile

you must have wings
to flutter from one
shuffling soul
to the next––
& the next
to make them
happy
to make them
well

helping a grandma
up out of a wheel chair––
carefully waking a
sleeping sigh
with a gentle
touch––

helping lonely people
rouse from their dusty
sadness

there is no end to
suffering but this––

to come to care––
to keep on
caring

you make your living
helping others release
poison from their
lives––
finding ways to keep
families in their
homes––

doing your best
to practice the
holy art of
kindness

& where would your
husband be
without your
love?

this battlefield of
seeming endless struggle
tastes peace
because of sweet
sweet
you
