management heartbreak

they rule be
   cause they have big
      balls (perhaps) &
   no
imagination.

they were the
   kind of kids who
      shoved the others

   out of the way to
      get to the
fountain.

(after all, isn't
   egoistic bullying the
      horn nub of
   power in this
world?)

dreams of gold
   parachutes, stock options,
      signing bonuses &
   & unlimited
more.

once they fight/
   push/manipulate/pedi
      gree/peterprinciple/
   cheat their way to

      the top, de
   cline
begins.

all the wrong boys
   in all
      the right
places. energies diminish;
      colors dim;
   decisions rage from
      black to
red.

when they make a
   mistake––
they refuse to
   see, they don't/won’t/can't

      see
anymore.

what can competence
   or commitment or
      loyalty or good
   will matter in the

      glare of
   total personal
absorbtion?

if you witness & still
   care, your back
      bone droops, chest
   narrows, head

      hurts, mind
   blanks, mouth shuts, heart
withdraws.

they're paid to manage,
   not to lead, they're
      paid for who they
   know, there’s nothing

   new. their egos erupt
      like a child of
two.

so Lord forgive
   them, ‘cause
      they know not
   what they
do.
