a mirage of years

the heart starts
to grow
& before it is done
learns
everything was always
one

we feel
the pain
of birth––

& create
fire-breathing dragons
to guard treasures
of crumbling
memories

we wear blindfolds
that obscure
the sun

& grasp
at illusions
of having, holding,
keeping &
selling

we forget
we are everything
& each
other
living in a
garden of
blossoming
what is

why not let go
to fall with perfect
trust into the
arms that cradled us
long before we ever
were

a nameless groom
a faceless
bride

a terry-cloth tiger
rolls around
laughing

we cannot
remember how we
ever could have been
unhappy

wandering
the buddha road
taking pictures of
nowhere &
nothingness

we’re like butterflies of
infinity
fluttering beyond
beyond
wings dissolving
into one
universe
then another
&
another

the pollen of
happiness is
everywhere
