beyond the pledge

beyond the science
of the double blind,
apollo speaks,
the serpent stirs––
more than healing,
more than curing––
the doctor summons
the energy of the sun &
of the earth.
the chi rushes through
his heart,
channels through his hands
into the patient’s bones––
life surges into
the body of humanity
every cell prays
for love & light,
every human prays for
the freedom to fly––
for now, the death
toxins are banished,
& the wobbling gyroscope
of living finds balance
