all in the family

they tell us
there are billions &
billions of suns

suspended
in empty space

yet we are not
an orphaned blue planet
in a void
for our known-&-unknowable God
is
with us––

in the dark
mud of the grave

in the love
that keeps memory
sacred

& in our sobbing grief
as He holds us like
children in his arms

He is our father
& our father’s
father

He is our heart
of hearts
before & after earthly
time

It is He who made us––
not things––
but prayers

we are rightful children
of immense
creation

& we know
our dear mother’s
smile

always & every
where
brothers & sisters
of all that could ever
be––

all
in the family
