rainbows & unicorns

i
rainbows & unicorns.
the color of new-born happiness.

ii
artists are an independent kind.
traveling without compasses,
most don’t care
where they’re going––
but some, most stubbornly, do.

iii
how do they make
beauty dance inside the brain?
how do they translate
clouds into lovesongs?

iv
the harmonic chroma of light
welcomes living eyes to earth––
a picture show
that always is
& never was
the same

v
pure feelings come first

vi
the cobalt shadow of the black raven
crosses the mauve-ish green meadow

vii
two artists, each on a solitary pilgrimage,
meet on a blank canvas

their brushes fix
the watery blue of time
into permanent place––
& paint with the freedom
of dawn

viii
the creator decides
the disposition of worlds––
the transformation
of self

ix
at the end of the high holy days
in a sacred circle of souls––
two artists stand side-by-side &
hand-in-hand in the truth
of pure free will––

each vowing to go their own way
together
