to kid with her again
& to laugh
our family does not change
with the seasons nor
in all of time––
our family is
as eternal as the sky
& all of us
are forever children
in the wide embrace
of loving
so Ralph set out for Jerusalem
to experience the radiance
& warmth
of his mother’s joy
we see him
step by step with his staff
on a dusty road

& we are with him
