here we are
abandoned in a mad ocean
of plusses & minuses
adrift
on an indifferent tabula
rasa
darkness falls & truth
does not appear––
the heart is
silent
there are too many facts
in this dizzying dimension
where yesses & noes
are uncountable
when feelings are
ambivalent––
the grinding turnings
of the mind
yield only guilt &
pain
we look to the sky
for the gesture of a god––
but the clouds tell us
nothing
the eyes of the soul
only see
& conscience complains
after the doings
are done
even when a matter
seems decided––
the lightest breeze
summons a
hurricane
& reason is
scattered away
in this world
things change––
& turning points are buried
in sand
somewhere within your
self
you know
what you must do––
don’t be afraid
the wind will take you
where you’re going––
& the river is never
lost
