the impossible TV nightmare

…nothing is real
& nothing to get hung about…

the deck of cards
flipped over &
the joker’s wild

stars are leaping off’
the flag––
red detests blue
& white can’t stand
either

less than half
the people elected
their superman
to rule like the sun
far above the law
& the land

less than half
the people don’t care
if the earth gets parched––
if friends become enemies––
if dictators strut
with weapons & paranoid
justice

less than half
the people feel angry,
cheated & betrayed––
they yearn to be
#1 again––

their country may be
the richest in the world––
with the most powerful economy––
& still the sole super-power
but they’re feeling
let down

maybe the chinese have
been taking advantage,
or the europeans, or the
immigrants––

they’re willing to have
children stripped from their
parents & the
dreams of dreamers
crushed
to take their magic
back

they wildly applaud
their imperious business
god who can afford to pay for the silence
of the women
he romped––
who contradicts himself
so fluently that truth
herself has been
mortally wounded.

he’s the great negotiator
who talked & charmed
his way into six grand bankruptcies––

this man whose stock & trade
is insulting others––
& eliminating through his verbal bowels
whomever
will not come to heel
at his knee

what woman wouldn’t
wish to fondle his soft
orange hair?

the wholesale destruction
of world order
is what
less than half
the people want––
to trample down the
gasping present for the
fairytale past––
when they were young
& dominating

all they want
is to feel secure––

what are guns & flags for
except to make a man
feel big
& keep humiliation
away?

when you’re first
you don’t need friends––
just followers––
& which way you’re going might not
matter to you––

conflict is paradise.
ignorance is strength.
… wars are easy to win.
