once or twice
in my life time,
I found
you
just beyond my
grasp.
i desired you &
felt desired;
thirsted after you &
tasted your
thirst.
i wanted to cast my
roots around your
ankles & enfold
you within my
protective bark.
i wished to
consummate one
dream of singular
roundness bringing bird
songs & flowers,
breathing heaven’s
light.
how can I grow my
solitary self without your
earthly being;
plant the seed of my
soul inside your
heart?
yet the wakeful forces of the
world have made their
sign, & in their
wisdom, have chosen not to
let us
be.
