Go West

It is a living joy
To wake up and see mountains in your window
   at dawn,

To be greeted by strangers
   on the common road,

To wander along stony desert paths, meandering
   nowhere in particular,

To breathe the free, transparent air,
   seeing miles without fences.

These are the given blessings
Of human being--––

Uncontemplated by the Bill of Rights,
Forgotten by too many.
