refuting the age of ego

as individual people
get smaller––

one among
many many many
too many––

our souls are
shrinking––

wanting more &
more
when we have
enough
enough.

our lives feed
like pigs
& the world
is choking
in manure.

even the wealthiest
person in the world
is merely a super-sized
consumer.

we are convinced
by grasping others
we are competing
to survive

while we are
violently
drowning our own
souls.

when we are
afraid––
or insecure––
we shed our
brotherhood &
sisterhood

somehow
we have lost
our species
pride––

do we not hear
the songbird pride
in the dawning
light?

do we not see
the lion pride
in the daylight
of the veldt?

have we forgotten
our human
pride
to be reborn
into the divine
by the judgment
of our souls?

we are now taught
our heroes aren’t
perfect––

so what––!

they vastly outshine
our ability
to judge.

are greed & selfishness
really a better choice
than kindness?

humankind are shaped
by stories––
& we are ingesting––
force-fed––
fantasies that
poison
our souls.

our souls
are the living
humanity
that is bigger
& more radiant
than our
selves.

i am filled
with greatness
because i am
a human being.

because i am
a human being
I can love
without limits––

verily,
i can love all
the galaxies
& stars––

& the dark matter
of being
which I have yet
to meet.

it is my human
openness
that makes me
great––

that makes me
realize i am
a universe––

unlimited in
space & time &
loving––

blessed with dignity

just like you.
