Imagine you’re an idiot. Imagine you’re a member of Congress.
But I repeat myself.
Mark Twain
i
i wanted to stand
behind the president, to
take the message to the
streets, to holler my
rage to the
sky.
ii
i spoke with my friends &
every one agreed but nary
a one would write a letter or
speak a
word.
iii
i tried to communicate with
gingrich, but could
n’t get through his PR
filter, & not even the press
can reach moynihan ‘cause
he’s too
important.
iv
the shame of
the rash hypocrisy of these
proceedings––
atrocious in print, abominable on
tv.
v
economies are shaky,
there’s terrorists at large,
our jobs are endangered,
our dollars are too, but we’re
going to impeach a
president.
vi
we’re rich & great &
fat & bored & we’re
praying to impeach our
president.
vii
this seems to be an attack
on our basic civil rights & free
dumb, but maybe i’m just not
hip enough to
understand republican
justice.
in any case, i’m casting my
vote for the indifference
party &
frankly, my dear,
i wish
i didn’t give a
damn.
